The Best Apple Turnovers Ever!

These Apple Turnovers are made with puff pastry sheets and Granny Smith Apples. When baked, they are crispy on the outside, and soft, cinammon-ey on the inside. A treat guaranteed to give you those wintery feels.

Ingredients

  • 3 green apples

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

  • 1/8 tsp salt

  • Puff pastry sheets (6)

Egg Wash

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp water


For the Glaze

  • 1/4 cup icing sugar

  • 1 -2 tbsp cream or milk

Procedure

  1. Peel and chop green apples. In a saucepan over medium heat, add 1 Tbsp of the butter

  2. Allow to melt, then add the chopped apples, and cook 5 minutes till softened

  3. Once softened, add the brown sugar, cinnamon and salt and cook another 3-5 minutes over low heat

  4. Once done, set to cool. On a tray lined with silicon or parchment, lay the puff pastry sheets, at least 3 inches apart

  5. Brush the egg wash on the edges of the puff pastry and then add the apple mixture in the center. Fold over the pastry and crimp edges with a fork

  6. Bake at 200c for 23 minutes or until golden brown and puffed

  7. Mix ingredients for glaze and drizzle over the turnovers when warm to the touch, then serve
